Russian Roulette and Pure Pearlfection by Essie

Purchased by me
("Russian Roulette" and "Pure Pearlfection" by Essie)

This is two coats of Russian Roulette topped with one coat of Pure Pearlfection. Both polishes went on smoothly, and together they give a beautiful, rich and shiny holiday red color =) On this picture, II used two coats of the red polish (which you can see a swatch of alone here), and one coat of the pearl polish.

Last Minute Nail Art Idea

I am stopping by quickly here today, to share with you a last minute nail art idea for christmas. On Christmas eve, I will probably use this nail art on one accent nail, along with the rest of the red manicure I'm planning =)

This nail art is not very exciting. I am sure you have seen many santa face, santa hat and santa suit nail art ideas online, as I have too. But I do not think I have ever seen exactly this view of santa. I have seen santa suits, but then only his suit and none of his beard. In my version, I wanted to include both his beard and his suit with his belt =)

Russian Roulette by Essie

Purchased by me
("Russian Roulette" by Essie)

This polish is a fun red jelly-ish color. The formula is a little on the runny side, so I made sure to take off a little bit extra from the brush before applying the polish to the nail. Three coats were used to get the polish to this opacity. No top coat used for this photo.
I will be back in a few days with an easy nail art tutorial, where I used this polish as my base color. It will be my first video tutorial, and I look forward to sharing it with you =)

Cashmere Bathrobe by Essie

Purchased by me
("Cashmere Bathrobe" by Essie)

This polish is a gorgous dark grey, with a subtle shimmer. The formula was great, and it went on smoothly. I used two coats for this swatch, with no top coat for the picture.

How do you like this dark grey shimmering color? I'd love to hear about it in the comment section. For me, I think it looks really elegant =)

128 Ocean Crush by Isadora

Purchased by me
 ("128 Ocean Crush" by Isadora)

This polish is a fun turquoise-ish blue glitter textured polish. The polish dries to a semi-matte/satin like finish, with a fun sandy texture. I found it easy to apply, the polish is well saturated with glitter. This picture shows two coats, without any top coat. There is a little bit of visible nail line in the picture. I don't think anyone will notice the nail line in real life. Anyhow, the polish has a wide brush, so it takes some getting used to if you've only worked with smaller brushes before, or if you have really slim nails.

How do you like this blue color? I often gravitate towards blue nail polishes. Do you have a color that you most often choose to paint your nails with? I'd love to hear about it in the comment section =)

Mezmerised by Essie

Purchased by me
("Mezmerised" by Essie)

This polish is a pretty, royal blue. As with all essie polishes I've tried, the formula was great and I had no big problems. Essie nail polish has a wide brush and a fluid consistency, which you might have to get used to. This swatch photo shows one coat, without any topcoat.

How do you like this blue color? I often gravitate towards blue nail polishes. Do you have a color that you most often choose to paint your nails with? I'd love to hear about it in the comment section =)

Random: Nail polish at work

So, I read something on another nail blog, where the blog author referred to a nail polish color as being work-appropriate. It kind of made me chuckle, because I realized my workplace is different than many others. You see, I work in a kindergarden. And there, I really feel like I can wear any kind of crazy nail polish color that I want. I don't have to stick to plain pinks and light, elegant colors. And I love that =)

Also, I often experience that the small children I work with (ages 1-3 years), suddenly notice that I have nail polish on. They will point to the nail polish, touch it and really focus in on it. It is so fun to see their reaction=) I also once had on textured nail polish, and had a child for a long time just rubbing a finger over the surface, totally amazed and fascinated with the texture. Really fun =)

I am curious, for you nail polish lovers out there, what kinds of nail polish do you wear to work? Does the work environment influence your nail polish choices? I'd love to hear about it in a comment =)

Viva la Diva Color #119

Purchased by me
(Color #119 by Viva la Diva)

This polish is a really fun, bright jelly-ish red. The formula was easy to apply, I had no problems like streaking or uneven polish. This swatch photo shows three coats, without any other base color or top coat. Only downside to this polish is that there's a tiny bit of visible nail line, which you can see if you look closely at my ring finger there. But overall, I like this nail polish =)

How do you like this bright, jelly-looking red color? Do you usually go for bright red colors like this or darker red colors for your nails? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this in the comment section =)

Viva la Diva Color #84

Purchased by me
(Color #84 by Viva la Diva)

Wow you guys, this one was hard to capture with the right tone of silver for the picture! But, if you check out the video further below, you'll see a better representation of how the color looks in real life.

This is a beautiful, shimmering silver color. Photo shows three coats, which it needed to get to my desired opacity. One coat over a base color would probably be pretty too =)

To me, silver like this reads as a party color, and I think it would be awesome as a classy nail polish for christmas or new years =)

I love this color, it changes slightly in different light, from suede-ish brown to more purple-ish brown. Super pretty and classy, and a great color for fall =)

Base Color + Jelly Ombre

Purchased by me
So, I thought of a way to use a jelly nail polish to create an ombre effect on your nails. The only jelly-ish nail polish I own is a glitter one, so I went for that =)  (It's the Atlantis color from China Glaze)
I'm calling the technique Base Color + Jelly Ombre

106 Pink Crush by Isadora

This is the pretty nailpolish I am wearing on my nails today:
Purchased by me

This is 1 coat of Isadora's 106 Pink Crush nailpolish. It might look a little bit more purple in this picture than irl, but not too much. It is from their Sugar Crush series, and I think it is fabulous! First off, I love that I can wear this with only 1 coat. I could have added a second coat to get a richer color, but the fact that this covers the nail well in 1 coat is awesome! I love that =)

Also, I have found this nailpolish to be great for when you have little "accidents", and small bits of your nailpolish chips off at the tip of the nail. If it's just a small bit, you can just dab on a little bit more nailpolish, and it will blend in well with the rest of the nail. I guess it must be because of the texture of this nailpolish =) Oh, and have I mentioned how much fun this texture is? Forget about the fact that it is a more matte glitter nailpolish, which looks pretty. It is also soo interesting just to touch with your finger (once the nailpolish is dry, of course)!

Welcome to my new blog!

Hi everyone

So, on a whim I just started this blog. Beacuse, well, I want a place to put pictures of my nail art. Or rather, my painted nails that sometimes have a design added =) I don't do a lot of nail art, and I don't paint my nails often. But I do love color, so when I have time and energy I like to paint my nails.

I just recently started bying colored nailpolish, and getting interested in nail art and nail polish itself. I'm now subscribed to several nail polish ladies on YouTube and different nail polish blogs. I think that what I love the most about nail polish is the color aspect. I am such a color junkie =) My main hobby is to make cards, and if you've seen a number of the cards on my blog or on my YouTube channel, you know that I love color and fun, cute and happy stamp designs!
Oh, shoot, I'm rambling now. Instead of that, let me show you what I have on my nails today:

I used Essie - Lapis of Luxury as my base color. For the white dots I used Essie - Blanc. I don't have any dotting tools for nail art, but I used two different styluses from my craft tool stash along with a bobby pin to make the dots. The styluses are pretty much the same thing as dotting tools, but they are used in crafting instead for other purposes.

That's all for today =)
